Ingredients
500 gms roughly cut potatoes
100 gms green peas
500 gms chopped tomatoes
Salt to taste

For masala
200 gms butter
200 gms finely chopped onions
1/2 tsp jeera
4 tbsp chilli powder
1 tbsp garlic paste
1 medium chopped capsicum
1/2 tsp haldi
1 tbsp garam masala
Salt to taste
Red edible colour (optional)
Water as required

For assembly
Lemons wedges
Chopped onions
Butter
Chopped Coriander
Ladi pav to serve

Method:
– In a pan add potatoes, peas, tomatoes water and and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes
– Mash the whole mixture properly and add little bit of water
– In a pan add butter, onions, cumin seeds, garlic paste and chilli powder and mix it all well
– Add capsicum, turmeric and garam masala
– Add the mashed pulp into the pan and mix it nicely and evenly
– Add food color – red ( Its optional)
– To adjust the consistency add water and keep it on slow simmer
– Apply butter on the pav and toast them on a pan

Pav Bhaji is ready to be served!

  6. Instead of using colour what we can do is soak red Kashmiri chillis in warm water for sometime and bring it to fine paste..and add it in oil with onions…that gives pav bhaji an awesome colour!

  7. Thanks! for red color you can also try annatto seeds soaked in boiling or room temp water. We call it roucou in Trinidad. Also called Oucou or Achiote. It can also be made with oil.

  17. What’s wrong with people? Believe me you eat way worse compared to food grade colour, and it’s a choice, add it or don’t. And I believe he added all the components that go in a pav bhaji masala individually. And all those freaking out with the idea that there is no pao bhaji masala and why is there food coloring. Hmmm well have you ever wondered that the very pav bhaji masala, might have added food colour in it? Check the ingredients next time.
